- Scuff the surrounding area with sandpaper (perpendicular to the cable length).
- Clean the area with alcohol wipes.

- Apply a layer of vinyl electrical tape over the 130C tape, extending 2.5 cm past the damage .

- Protect the splice with a heat-shrink sleeve or protective enclosure.
- Test the repaired section with an OTDR to ensure minimal signal loss (<0.15 dB ideal), .
